Adult Sunday School
The elders will begin teaching through John Owen’s book, “Duties of Christian Fellowship.” This is a time-tested Puritan classic. We believe this will be a profitable and fruitful study. Consider Owen’s original subtitle for the book: ‘A Cluster of the Fruit of Canaan, Brought to the Borders for the Encouragement of the Saints Travelling Thitherward, With Their Faces Toward Zion.’
Obviously, the Puritans were NOT known for pithy book titles. I love this subtitle, though. It captures what Owen was meaning to do with this book. He wants us to have, as it were, a cluster of the fruit from the Promised Land brought down from Heaven for our encouragement as we walk through this wilderness. So come expecting much fruit from this study.
We will not be providing copies of the book. Our thought is that we can provide a handout for each lesson. Of course, we would recommend that you purchase the book for your own edification. You will not need to have a book for Sunday School. Here is a link: https://tinyurl.com/DutiesBook.

One item I must draw to your attention is that the business meeting will take place this Sunday at 6:00 PM. During this meeting, the next (fiscal) year’s budget will be proposed in order to be voted on. There are a few other items on the agenda. Namely, we will be voting on two new elder candidates to begin serving immediately; and there will be a vote for the church to ordain me. Some of you have had questions about what ordination is. Here is a good article to explain it: https://www.gotquestions.org/ordination.html. The last paragraph of that article is particularly helpful.
Daily Bible Reading
The Daily Bible Reading Program is still going strong. I just recorded episode #161 for June 10th (a nearly 20-minute reading of Psalm 119). We are on track to finish Genesis-Acts by the end of the year. I anticipate that we will be able to read the Psalms twice, Proverbs eight times, and the epistles four times. I appreciate all of you who listen. If you have not had a chance to listen, you can still jump in.
